Every year on March 6, we observe National Dentist Day — a day to recognize and celebrate the incredible contributions dentists make to our health, confidence, and quality of life. It’s the perfect time to reflect on how dental professionals help keep our smiles healthy and bright all year long.
At Liesen Family Dental in Collinsville, Illinois, we’re proud to provide world-class dental care with a personal touch from a team you can trust. In honor of this special day, we’re introducing the people behind the smiles — our dentists, Dr. Matthew Liesen and Dr. Brittany Scanlon, who bring passion, experience, and compassion to every visit.
Dr. Liesen, an Illinois native from Chicago Heights, brings a deep commitment to dental excellence and patient-centered care. After studying Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, he earned his dental degree from Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine — where he was part of the very first graduating class!
Before founding Liesen Family Dental, Dr. Liesen began his career in public health dentistry and later practiced in Peoria. He combines advanced dental knowledge with a friendly, easygoing approach that puts patients at ease. When he’s not enhancing smiles, Dr. Liesen enjoys homebrewing his own beer and has proudly completed the Chicago Marathon four times!
Whether you’re in for routine care or advanced treatment, Dr. Liesen’s expertise ensures you get the thoughtful, customized care you deserve.
Dr. Brittany Scanlon brings both local roots and professional dedication to our practice. She grew up in Maryland Heights, Missouri and Brighton, Illinois, and after completing her undergraduate studies at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, she went on to graduate from Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine in 2016.
With experience in both public health and private practice, Dr. Scanlon balances her role at Liesen Family Dental with a full-time position as a Clinical Faculty Team Leader at the Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine. Her deep commitment to education and high standards of practice make her a valuable part of the team.
Dr. Scanlon’s blend of clinical skill and genuine care ensures patients of all ages feel comfortable, understood, and supported throughout their dental journey.
