New Year, New Smile!

New year, new smile!

New Year’s Resolutions are a great way to identify a goal that will better your life. They come in many forms, ranging from something as simple as reading a book to as extreme as finishing an ultra marathon. At Liesen Family Dental we often see a popular resolution in dentistry: New Year, New Smile. But how do you achieve this goal? Where do you start? All smiles are different! What might make one person’s teeth beautiful might not work for somebody else. With constant developments in dental and orthodontic technology, there is a solution for everyone to make a smile beautiful! Here are some things Liesen Family Dental can do to help you achieve your New Year’s Resolution for an even more beautiful smile!

Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic Dentistry is an extremely popular answer to the New Year, New Smile Resolution. There is a cosmetic solution to making every smile reach its full potential!Cosmetic dentistry covers everything from dentures, implants, crowns, to bridges, fillings, partial dentures—the list goes on and on. There are so many cosmetic dental treatments we offer; there’s no way we can go into detail about them here! However, we wanted to highlight a very popular cosmetic treatment here that is an excellent solution to the New Year, New Smile Resolution; that’s the veneer.

Veneers:

If you have teeth that are permanently damaged or discolored, veneers are an excellent option for fixing that problem! Veneers are custom porcelain or composite shells that go over the front of your tooth (or teeth). They are created by technicians that take your entire smile into account based on molds developed by our team! Once the shells are crafted, they are installed, and BOOM—you’ve achieved your New Year, New Smile Resolution in no time!

Whitening

Whitening is technically a form of cosmetic dentistry, however, we wanted to highlight it in its own category because it is such a great solution to making smiles look amazing! If you think your smile looks slightly yellow, regardless of how much whitening toothpaste you use, your teeth could be stained. Stained teeth are one of the most common cosmetic cases we see! Everyone loves food and drinks; however, some can discolor the surface of your teeth with regular exposure. For example, some popular food items that will stain your smile are buffalo sauce, marinara, coffee, dark teas, and red wine. Whitening treatment is an easy fix to this problem, so you don’t have to avoid the foods or drinks you love!

Types of Whitening

There are many levels of teeth whitening available, from over-the-counter alternatives to take-home kits and in-office treatments. We recommend the latter, as whitening strips and trays from the drug store usually don’t last very long and require constant re-application, depending on your diet and lifestyle.

Over-The-Counter:

These include whitening strips that can be purchased at most drug stores and can be applied at your convenience at home. These are somewhat effective, but the results will take longer to achieve and may only be able to whiten to a certain point. This is because they are not as strong as options that can be purchased from a licensed dentist.

Take-Home Kits:

Take-home kits provided by dental professionals are an affordable and reliable way to get rid of stains on your teeth. The results won’t last quite as long as other whitening treatments; however, they will do the job just fine and have your smile looking beautiful after a few installments!

Custom Whitening Trays:

These are plastic trays that are custom fit to you and fabricated by a dentist. They allow you to purchase professional strength whitening gels to be applied at home. These are the most effective for whitening and are a great option to achieve the smile you want!

Invisalign® Treatment

Invisalign is an affordable, convenient, and easy way to straighten most smiles! This flexible alternative to braces is extremely popular with patients of all ages due to its removability and lack of brackets and wires. Every Invisalign® tray our office creates is 100% unique to that patient and explicitly designed for their smile. The Invisalign® straightening system is simple. All you have to do is wear your treatment as prescribed by us and come and pick up your next set of trays when our team notifies you. That’s it! Wear your treatment, come in for brief check-ups every few months, and you’ll have the smile you’ve always wanted before you know it!
